Common questions
How does the blocking actually work?
CrossOff uses Apple's own Screen Time system. When you pick apps in the Apple picker, iOS enforces the limits — not CrossOff. That's why the blocking holds even if you force-quit CrossOff, and it's also why we can never see which apps you chose. Your selection stays on your iPhone.
My apps are still blocked when they shouldn't be
Open CrossOff. It re-checks and clears any block that's no longer meant to be there every time it comes to the foreground. If a shield is still up after that, check Settings › Digital Wellbeing for a focus-hour window or a daily limit that's still running, and email us if it doesn't add up.
What does my accountability buddy see?
Only that you asked for time, and how many minutes. They never see which app you asked about, and for a Vault entry they're told only that it's "their Vault" — never what's inside. You choose who can approve, and you can unlink at any time.
I lost my phone / got a new one
Sign in with the same Apple or Google account and your lists, history and progress come back. Blocking configuration is device-local by design (Apple's app selections only mean something on the device that made them), so you'll pick your apps again on the new phone.
Subscription
What's free?
Cross Off — adding and completing tasks — and the whole accountability side. If you're helping someone else stay on track, approving and declining their requests and holding their PIN is free forever, and always will be.
What does Standard include?
App blocking, focus hours, the Vault, Actions, Progress, Lists, schedules, quantity tracking, and sharing your own lists or tracker with a buddy.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › CrossOff › Cancel. You keep access until the period you've paid for ends. If you cancel during a free trial before it finishes, you're not charged.
I subscribed but nothing unlocked
Open CrossOff, go to Settings › CrossOff Standard and tap Restore Purchases. If that doesn't do it, email us with the Apple ID email you purchased with and we'll sort it out.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Your blocks lift quietly at the next sync — we will never hold your phone hostage over a payment. Your linked buddies get a short notice that blocking turned off, because that's the honesty the feature is built on. Nothing you've written is deleted, and resubscribing brings everything back exactly as it was.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account. That removes your data from our systems. Anything stored only on your iPhone goes when you delete the app.
