CrossOff Terms of Use

Effective 15 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the CrossOff iPhone app. Using the app means you accept them.

What CrossOff is

CrossOff is a productivity app. It helps you plan what you want to do, block distracting apps using Apple's Screen Time technology, and stay accountable to people you choose. It is not a medical, therapeutic, or clinical service, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition.

Your account

You need an account (Sign in with Apple or Google) to sync your data and link with buddies. Keep access to your sign-in method secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. You must be 13 or older.

CrossOff Standard subscription

CrossOff Standard is an auto-renewing annual subscription. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial where eligible. The exact price is always shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm, and payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.

What's free

Being someone else's accountability buddy is free, permanently. Linking, approving or declining requests, holding PINs, and viewing what a buddy shares with you never require a subscription. Basic task features remain free as described in the app.

Blocking, and its limits

App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time system. That system is Apple's, not ours, and it is not perfect: iOS may occasionally deliver a scheduled block or unblock late or not at all, and usage measurements are approximate. CrossOff is a tool to support your intentions, not a guarantee that an app can never be opened.

Phone calls and Emergency SOS are never blocked — Apple enforces that at the system level.

Please don't rely on CrossOff for anything safety critical. If you need to be reachable, don't block the way people reach you, and keep another way to be contacted.

If your subscription lapses, blocking turns itself off rather than leaving your phone restricted. Your buddies are notified when that happens.

Accountability buddies

Linking is by mutual consent and either side can unlink. Only share with people you actually trust — you control what's shared and can change it at any time. Treat what a buddy shares with you as private. Don't use CrossOff to coerce, monitor, or control another person.

Acceptable use

We may suspend accounts that do these things.

Your content

What you write in CrossOff is yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store it, sync it between your devices, and show it to the buddies you've shared it with. We don't claim ownership and we don't sell it.

Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue features. We'll try to give reasonable notice of anything significant, particularly where it affects a paid subscription.

Disclaimer and liability

CrossOff is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything arising from missed blocks, delayed notifications, or data loss. Nothing here limits liability that legally cannot be limited, and you may have consumer rights in your country that these terms do not affect.
